In partnership with The Football Academy (TFA), Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) invited world-class coaches to the Emirate last week, and to sample a flavour of Arabian hospitality at the Marjan Island Resort & Spa. The training, held at the Emirates FC Pitch, was part of an ongoing drive to help the next generation of Ras Al Khaimah footballers (aged 14-18 years) to develop their skills.

The coaches facilitated a rigorous two-day training for 30 elite squads, as well as talks on football theory and seminars on “The secrets to going Pro” – helping the young players to sharpen their skills both on and off the field.

Haitham Mattar, Chief Executive Officer at RAKTDA, said: “Hosting this world-class football training camp in partnership with The Football Academy is part of our commitment to fostering and supporting the UAE’s youth. Our successful partnership with TFA is driven by our shared values of nurturing young talent and in helping them in their pursuit of excellence.”

The RAKTDA and TFA collaboration helps support the ambitions of the UAE’s youth, as well as highlighting the state-of-the-art sporting facilities available in Ras Al Khaimah. RAKTDA initiated a partnership with TFA in early 2017, sponsoring the youth team jersey and supporting the squad with select initiatives throughout the year.

Ali El Jishi, Head Coach at The Football Academy, said: “Football is like food, every country has their own flavour and recipe. Inviting top football coaches from Italy enables our elite footballers to taste the Italian style of play – including their legendary defensive tactics. We organise two camps a year where TFA invites the best football coaches from around the world to be part of our football programme, and these collaborations prove very fruitful in the long run both for the players and the Academy.”

As part of Ras Al Khaimah’s Destination Strategy 2019-21 to enhance sports, adventure and event tourism in the Emirate, RAKTDA will continue to work to attract international visitors and UAE residents with a range of prestigious sporting events throughout the year, including ‘The Road to Ras Khaimah’ – European Challenge Tour Grand Final and RAK Half Marathon.
