12-hour dusk till dawn ‘beach festival’ to pack Al Marjan Island on May 12/13
Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has upped the ante for the return of its Destination Dawn music party with the signing of global hip hop sensation Taboo of The Black Eyed Peas and international electro and progressive house starlet Juicy.M to headline the 12-hour beach festival.
Taking to the Al Marjan Island stage on Friday, May 12th, the headliners will be supported by the UAE’s own music legends, the electro-dance combo Hollaphonic pounding out their own creations of the coolest sounds around, guaranteed to keep crowds on their feet.
A catalogue of other local artists is being compiled to ensure the beat goes on, all night long.
And with weathermen forecasting a mild night with temperatures around 24 degrees Celsius and plans afoot for a range of FB outlets, Destination Dawn looks set to pull in a huge crowd of music goers from around the region.
“It’s our intention to ensure Ras Al Khaimah climbs the event charts, whether that’s for music or traditional culture, adventure, extreme or conventional sports,” said Haitham Mattar, CEO, RAKTDA. “We continue to refine our events calendar, building on existing successes and introducing new concepts which will help us reach our strategic goal of one million visitors by the end of 2018.”
The music starts at Destination Dawn 2017 – the second in the series – at 5pm on Friday, May 12 and will keep on pounding all the way through to 5am the following morning. Festival goers are expected to descend on the emirate for the full weekend with a range of sponsors supporting the event.
The pristine beaches of Al Marjan Island – Ras Al Khaimah’s coral-shaped archipelago – will be transformed into a festival hangout with food and drink venues and chill-out zones for those looking for a break from the giant dance floor.
“It’s going to be one great night to remember, set against Ras Al Khaimah’s stunning sunset and sunrise, and for those that really want to enjoy the festival vibe, Al Marjan Island is an ideal location to bring a tent, set up camp and sleep under the stars,” added Mattar.
Event ticket holders from Dubai can reach the party via free shuttle buses from Manara Center Parking (Noor Bank Metro Station), Sheikh Zayed Road. The buses leave Dubai every 20 minutes from 4pm on May 12, returning from Al Marjan Island every 20 minutes from 3am the next morning. Revellers looking to extend the experience will be able to set up their tents in designated areas on the island for a unique beach camping experience.
Destination Dawn tickets, sold to those aged 18 and over and starting at AED100, can be bought through www.destinationdawn.com, or at Virgin Tickets, Platinum List and any branch of UAE Exchange. Those requiring VIP table reservations should visit the website for more information.
