Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority took part in AdventureNEXT Near East in Jordan this week. Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority shared key insights about adventure tourism in the region.
AdventureNEXT Near East was organized by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) to connect international travel trade with regional suppliers to discover new adventures in the Near East region. As a key note speaker, Haitham Mattar Introduced the ‘Destination Ras Al Khaimah 2019’ strategy highlighting the importance of adventure tourism and the vital role it plays in defining the Emirate’s new identity as a leading adventure hub of the Middle East. He also showcased the breadth of adventure offering in Ras Al Khaimah and how it contributes to eco-tourism experiences that work in harmony with nature such as luxury camps, the Via Ferrata climbing and hiking routes and Jebel Jais Flight: The World’s Longest Zipline at 2.83km which is truly a ‘bucket list’ attraction for anyone visiting the UAE.
“With the launch of the Destination 2019 Tourism Strategy for Ras Al Khaimah in 2016, RAKTDA has designed a roadmap and involved all of the public and private stakeholders in the Emirate to begin the journey together towards achieving sustainable and prosperous tourism ambitions. The knowledge and insights we have gained during this process have helped us achieve excellent connectivity and innovative business models that deliver quality products in line with market trends. This is something we are proud of and eager to share with our fellow tourism professionals in the Middle East” said Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.
