The region’s leading hospitality investment event, now in its 14th year, will take place in the purpose-built AHIC Village from 17-19 April, 2018

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has partnered with Bench Events and MEED to host the 2018 edition of the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC).

Organised by global events organiser Bench Events and leading information brand, MEED, AHIC is the annual gathering for the Middle East’s hospitality investment community and attracts over 800 hotel investors, major developers, leading financiers, and C-level hotel executives to attend three days of content, networking and events.

AHIC is a networking platform for global and regional investors of all backgrounds, offering essential insights to investing in hotels, showcasing regional and international hospitality investment opportunities and facilitating direct connections with hospitality industry stakeholders.

As Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) homes in on its 2018 target of attracting one million visitors, the UAE’s northernmost emirate is an ideal proposition for investors and boasts considerable opportunities within a number of development projects, including Al Marjan Island, which has been earmarked for an additional 16 hotels by 2025.

“Our partnership with AHIC is testament to the success of Ras Al Khaimah as one of the region’s fastest growing tourism destinations and its emergence as a prime MICE and business host, benefiting from its close proximity to Dubai,” said Haitham Mattar, CEO, RAKTDA. “As Ras Al Khaimah draws closer to reaching its one million visitors target by the end of 2018, and charts a path towards attracting 2.9 million visitors by 2025, the need for quality hotel rooms has never been so important. Hotel investment is integral to accommodating this growth and the emirate will need an additional 15,000 hotel rooms by 2025. We anticipate further growth in the emirate’s impressive pipeline of major hospitality brands, as RAKTDA launches a range of new tourism products and attractions, expanding the appeal of the emirate for travellers and residents alike,” he noted.

“We are tremendously excited to partner with RAKTDA to host AHIC 2018. The event, which has successfully provided a platform for dialogue on the various catalysts impacting the hospitality investment industry for more than a decade, will take place outside of Dubai for the first time in a purpose-built venue. This will allow us to create a truly unique and innovative meeting experience, with a refreshed focus on opportunities, relationships, and knowledge. Since AHIC was first established in 2004, the region’s tourism sector has matured into an estimated US $227 billion industry and the AHIC community has been a key enabler in this growth. Our efforts have highlighted the Middle East as an attractive destination for business and leisure, as well as a resilient market with real returns for investors, and we expect this success to continue,” said Jonathan Worsley, Chairman, Bench Events.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, AHIC 2018 will be co-hosted by its founding patron, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, whose continued support of the industry and AHIC has been critical to the region’s tourism growth.
